standing ovation war ein kurzlebiges projekt aus clacton on sea, großbritannien, das 1982 von dem sehr jungen paul bramhall und glen redgen während ihres highschool-studiums ins leben gerufen wurde. bewaffnet mit einem casio mt40, einem korg polysix, einem korg m500 und einem boss dr55 drumcomputer sowie einer gitarre und einem bass buchten sie am 22. oktober 1983 ein lokales studio und nahmen zwei songs an einem tag auf. die beiden tracks wurden kurz darauf vom ebenfalls lokalen label falling a auf kassette veröffentlicht. sie machten weitere zwei jahre elektronische musik und suchten nach mitarbeitern in den zeitungen, in denen sie einen schlagzeuger und einen leadgitarristen unterhielten.

limited red repress! only a few copies. 001 is from the label boss himself and features the stripped, staccato sounds of the title track and the stealthy purring acid of isolation. the labels first remix selection sees andre look to argentina and two of the countries finest musical exports, jonas kopp and pfirter. both take terminus into tougher territory where kopp twists the piercing note of the original and pfirter assaults us with his blistering drum work.

the shanklin sessions came out of the shanklin road studio that andy sims shared with one of his partners from soft rocks, bobby coulman. acid jan started its life as a jan hammer edit that andy was doing for one of soft rocks disco powerplay releases. there were a few parts that never made the final cut, but were too good to leave, so andy got friend jaime read in to jam with the left over bits, and from that acid jan was born (none of the jans original parts made it to this finished re-incarnation). acid jan found it s way onto cynic label boss felixs usb and subsequently was played at every festival/club that felix played for about a year. when andy heard felix playing it at alfresco festival in 2016, they decided to release it on cynic. in search of a b side for the release, andy dug out the other dat s from the session acid jan was recorded at, and found sitars over shanklin, a suitably oddball track to grace the other side. a little piece of chicago via india recorded in brighton.

the jamaican reggae producer harry j recorded some of his most successful artists during the late 60’s / early 70’s. the first local hit he recorded was the beltones “no more heartaches”. this compilation album puts down the focus on the classics from his first years in music business. it’s one of the long players from trojan’s early years when boss reggae ruled the dancehalls all around the uk and jamaica. the fine production of songs by king cannon, herbie carter and trevor shield can all be found on this 12-track lp.

russian born and very gifted musician aleceo is a new addition to the ongoing rooster of copenhagens prolific music for dreams label - aleceo came to attention of label boss kenneth bager with the brilliant first ep clouds. aleceo has his own musical voice, he produces and composes music that is rich in harmonies and melodies he sits somewhere between balearic and deep house combining the past and moving forward and this double vinyl teletrip is an excellent taster of his many talents and a real body of work.
